Position Overview
Talent Resource Professionals is partnering with an established Northern California organization to identify an experienced Senior Software Engineer. This hands-on role will support the continued development, maintenance, and modernization of business-critical web applications and internal systems.
The ideal candidate brings broad full-stack experience and is comfortable working across backend development, modern frontend frameworks, relational databases, and supporting application environments. This position is well suited for a developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving existing systems, and contributing to long-term application architecture and modernization efforts.
Candidates must currently reside in California. Employer sponsorship is not available for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Stack Application Development
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance full-stack web applications and business systems.
- Build and improve modern user-facing applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications and services using PHP and Python.
- Write maintainable, well-structured code and support established development standards and practices.
- Participate in testing, implementation, documentation, troubleshooting, and ongoing application support.
Database & Systems
- Design, maintain, query, and optimize relational databases supporting business applications.
- Work with Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL environments.
- Apply sound relational database design principles, including normalization, SQL development, and performance optimization.
- Diagnose and resolve complex application, database, infrastructure, and production-related issues.
Architecture & Modernization
- Contribute to application modernization initiatives and the ongoing improvement of existing systems.
- Participate in software architecture discussions, technical planning, and development decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Evaluate relevant technologies, frameworks, and development practices that may improve business systems over time.
Collaboration & Problem Solving
- Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members to understand business needs and translate requirements into practical software solutions.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues using strong debugging and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Ideal Background
- 4+ years of professional PHP development experience.
- 4+ years of professional Python development experience.
- 4+ years of professional JavaScript development experience.
- 4+ years of professional TypeScript development experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience with React.
- 2+ years of professional experience with Next.js.
- 2+ years of professional experience working with relational database management systems.
- 2+ years of professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of SQL, relational database design, normalization, and database performance optimization.
- Strong debugging, analytical problem-solving, and software architecture skills.
- Ability to work independently on technical challenges while collaborating effectively with a broader team.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
